Indian hotelier acquires Nottinghamshire's Clumber Park Hotel & Spa
MGM Muthu Hotels, with roots in India, further branched out into the UK, Europe and Cuba and with the acquisition of its third hotel in the UK, this will support the group’s strategy to expand and grow in the UK.
The group currently has 25 hotels in their flourishing portfolio including the Belstead Brook Hotel in Ipswich which it acquired in 2014 and the Westcliff Hotel in Essex which it added to its portfolio in 2015.
The 4-star Clumber Park Hotel, sat minutes away from the Sherwood Forest and adjacent to the National Trust’s Clumber Park, has recently been refurbished and tastefully adorned, featuring 73-bedrooms plus a stylish courtyard restaurant, five meeting rooms, a relaxing spa, delightful wedding venue and a modern swimming pool.
The acquisition was aided by a seven-figure funding package from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Monicca Maran, corporate communications director of MGM Muthu Hotels, said: “We are delighted with our new acquisition and are keen to expand our business further in the UK and abroad.
"This is a very exciting opportunity to work with Royal Bank of Scotland and also to get to know Nottingham and the surrounding community.
"Royal Bank of Scotland knows this industry inside out and we were very pleased by their guidance and knowledge throughout the transaction.”
Ian Morgan, relationship director from the Specialised Hotel and Leisure team at Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “We look forward to supporting MGM Muthu Hotels increase their brand across the UK with further hotel acquisitions and we have no doubt the Clumber Park Hotel & Spa will prove a lucrative choice of investment.”
