Kiddylicious lands lucrative Alibaba deal

Entrepreneur Sally Preston, founder and managing director of Kiddylicious, has secured a lucrative deal to supply her products to Tmall, a subsidiary of the Alibaba Group, the world’s largest ecommerce business.

Preston signed the deal after travelling to the Far East alongside Prime Minister Theresa May and 49 other businesses from across the UK as part of a recent trade mission.

During a packed schedule, which saw the delegates travel to Wuhan, Beijing and Shanghai, Sally attended the UK-China Business Forum in Shanghai alongside Dr Liam Fox.

It was during this visit that she officially completed the trade agreement to open a flagship store with Tmall, an ecommerce platform that is part of the Alibaba Group, opening the brand up to half a billion new consumers.

Preston said: “We’re very excited to be appearing on China’s leading online retail platform. The Kiddylicious brand, thus far, has gone from strength to strength.

“Our sales grew from £1.5m in 2016 to £3m in 2017, and we’ve doubled the number of products sold in China within that time.

“We are now working towards triple digit growth within the next year.”

As part of Kiddylicious' global expansion plan, the brand has identified China as a key strategic market and is working towards a 150% growth within the country this year.

The ambition is to reach retail sales of over £30m per year within three years.
