Newcastle Startup Week is back for 2019
As in previous years, the five-day entrepreneurship and innovation festival will begin on Monday 13 May with Day 1 (‘Inspiration Day’) at The Boiler Shop on Stephenson Quarter in Newcastle but Day 2 (‘Getting Started’) will take place at St Mary’s Heritage Centre, Gateshead on Tuesday 14 May. The rest of the week’s events will be based at various venues across the city.
Cllr John Adams, cabinet member for the Economy said: “This is great news. It’s important that entrepreneurs from across Newcastle and Gateshead work together to maximise the creative, social and economic potential of the North East by developing strategic and creative initiatives, sharing practice and resources, and by being a strong collective voice. I would encourage the Gateshead community to get involved if they’re not already.”
Paul Lancaster, founder & organiser of Newcastle Startup Week said “Despite the name, Newcastle Startup Week is all about celebrating local business success stories of the past, present and future from across the North East, showcasing why our region is such a great place to start or grow a business and helping more people to become more entrepreneurial.
“As a Gateshead lad who still lives in the borough, I’m delighted that we will be running events on both sides of the Tyne in 2019 and hope to see even more people from South of the river coming along next year.
“Gateshead Council have always been very forward-thinking when it comes to supporting new and emerging businesses, art and culture and the new developments on Baltic Quarter make it a very attractive location for businesses looking to expand or re-locate into the area. We’re excited to be working with them on making the event even bigger and better in 2019 and helping to grow the local economy together.”
